Just for Nurses
Nurses are special, compassionate people. We train hard. We work hard. Nights, weekends, holidays... nurses are here, rain or shine, in calm and in chaos, 24/7. John C. Lincoln Health Network appreciates and values nurses and our many talents. So while we are busy caring for our patients, John C. is busy caring for us with the entire support of our Network. We hope you'll take the time to see what John C. has to offer and that you, too, will soon be a John C. nurse!
Work Environment
At John C., we believe in the importance of teamwork. It is only together, as a team, that we can create the best possible experience for our patients and their families. That's why we've focused a great deal of effort on creating a positive, caring environment for our staff and our patients.
Incentives
We consider many factors when we're deciding where to work. Pay and benefits are important, of course, but so are other things like flexible hours and a commitment to excellence. We hope you'll take a look at the incentives that set us apart from the rest:
- Magnet Designation: John C. nurses are among the top 2 percent in United States. John C. Lincoln nurses received the highest national designation for excellence in patient care recently when John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital was granted "Magnet" status.
- Benefits: As nurses, we give so much to our patients; it's nice to be offered a wide range of benefits for joining the John C. team. Those of us who work at least 16 hours a week are eligible for benefits starting the first of the month following our date of hire.
- Flexible Scheduling: As John C. nurses who work full-time, we can actually create our own schedules. At John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital, nurses in many areas can choose from 8, 10 or 12 hour shifts, while at John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital, nurses can choose what days we prefer to work.
- Pay Practices: Not only are our salaries extremely competitive, but as nurses, we have an opportunity to increase our pay by participating in programs that best fit our lifestyles or professional interests.
- Shift Differential - John C. nurses receive additional compensation for working certain shifts, including evenings, nights and weekends.
- Join Our Nursing Team - John C. rewards nurses with hiring bonuses to work in many clinical positions or as charge nurses. And once you join our team, you can earn bonuses for helping refer other qualified nurses like yourself.
- Specialty Certifications - John C.'s nurses are not only recognized for our expertise, we're also compensated for it! Many of our nurses have specialty certifications in a wide range of fields, and we receive a salary differential for our specialty certification.
Career Development Opportunities
Nurses are special, compassionate people. We train hard. We work hard. Nights, weekends, holidays … rain or shine ... in calm and chaos ... nurses are there, 24/7. John C. Lincoln Health Network understands that nurses are vital to favorable patient outcomes and patient satisfaction. And while John C. Lincoln's nurses are busy caring for our patients, a number of programs designed just for nurses help care for our careers. Career development programs like these are part of the reason why John C. Lincoln is a magnet for nursing talent.
- Student Nurse Advancement Program (SNAP): Our Student Nurse Advancement Program (SNAP) offers students clinical experience, affords mentoring opportunities and removes financial barriers to attending school. Through SNAP, nursing students can earn a salary, receive tuition assistance, obtain insurance for themselves and their families (working a minimum of 16 hours per week) and work flexible schedules.
- Growth, Advancement and Investment in Nursing (GAIN): Growth, Advancement and Investment in Learning (GAIN) was established in spring 2007 to help nurses explore new career paths and, ultimately, advance their careers with John C. Lincoln. The program encourages learning and professional development by offering nurses a choice of numerous career tracks and work assignments. GAIN is the result of collaboration between John C. Lincoln Human Resources department and a team of nurses from both of our hospitals.
- RN to BSN Program: Did you become an RN through an associate's degree program? If so, as a John C. nurse you’ll find our organization has made it convenient to go on to earn your bachelor's degree through a collaborative program between John C. and Grand Canyon University. Not only are classes held on-site, but tuition assistance is available for this program.
- Nurse Extern program: Nursing students who have completed their second semester of nursing school can apply to become nurse externs with John C. Each student works closely with one of our skilled RNs as we go about our daily patient care rounds. Students who complete our training can work at John C. as nurse externs until graduation.
- RN Refresher Course: Periodically, John C. Lincoln offers an RN Refresher Course to assist nurses who want to reenter the hospital workplace. When offered, this course is advertised on our home page. Upon acceptance into a scheduled RN Refresher Course, you’ll receive a salary based on years of experience, while we pay all costs of the program and the reactivation fee for your RN license. You’ll then be hired into current RN vacancies at a pay rate based on your experience level.
- Specialty Training Courses: If you would like to expand your training to include specialty areas, John C. offers on-site courses in areas such as CCU, ED, Telemetry and OR. These courses count toward Contact Hours and help prepare you to sit for the credentialing exams.
- Center for Advancing Nursing: The Center for Advancing Nursing (CAN) was designed to support John C. nurses in their professional development and nursing research as they continue their education. Nurses can apply for funding from CAN (up to $850 a year) to attend professional conferences and seminars that have clinical relevance, organizational benefit or that foster professional development.
